Updated to the New Firefox 5 Browser

June is almost ending again. I hope you had a wonderful one for this month. It was quite a great month for me despite being sick for some days and being so busy with a lot of things. In overall, June was a great month for me and I am very thankful about it.

Back to main topic:I updated my beloved browser last Monday. The old Firefox version that was running in my laptop is now replaced with Firefox 5. After the major released of Firefox 4 three months ago, Firefox 5 came out immediately which matches Google Chrome's rapid release schedule. It was released on June 21, 2011.

I have been using this browser for some years now without having a problem in my PC. Per experience I believed, it is safer, faster and a reliable browser.

You can download the new version by clicking the link below:

Mozilla Firefox 4 Software is Here

Good morning everyone! Another sunny day is here and I feel good about it. I hope you had a wonderful weekend too! It's not so bad for me. I was just so busy.

This morning, when I opened my lovey lappy, there was a message that appears , to update my browser. I found that Mozilla Firefox 4, a new version which is faster and secure is ready to be installed in my laptop. I did not hesitate to download the new version because I always trust Mozilla Firefox. I have been using this browser for some years now. I believed for 6 years now. I have nothing to complain. I simply love Mozilla Firefox.

It has new looks. I just noticed that the different windows of the websites you are opening appear on the very top of the computer screen. I guess, I will get use to this in some days. It also delete my yahoo toolbar because it says, it is not on its latest version. This is not a problem because I can download and install yahoo toolbar again. Beside, I am also using Google toolbar and Alexa.

Error Spooler Subsystem App

You see exactly what error I had last March 10, 2010. It is about Spooler Subsystem App which encountered a problem. I printed screen it for my personal use. Honestly, I was scared as I saw this appeared on my desktop. I thought my computer collapsed already. I am thinking of buying anew one now. I will see when finances are possible.

I found out in Microsoft Support that when "you try to start or stop the Print Spooler service, or when you click Start and then click Printers and Faxes, you may receive the following error message: Spooler subsystem app has encountered a problem and needs to close."

What to do when you encounter this problem? You can try to visit the Microsoft support in this link, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/810894/it.

I guess my computer is working good again even though, I really did not make any thing after I encountered this problem.

What is a Web Page and a Home Page

Sometimes, I am just confuse what is really the difference between homepage and webpage. I guess they are almost similar but have each own meaning. To find an answer to my question, I consulted again my doctor professor in the internet, Wikipedia. See I simply browse and found the answer right in the click of my mouse. This is only for General information! keep reading below;

WHAT IS A WEBPAGE

"A web page or webpage is a document or resource of information that is suitable for the World Wide Web and can be accessed through a web browser and displayed on a computer screen.

This information is usually in HTML or XHTML format, and may provide navigation to other web pages via hypertext links.

Web pages may be retrieved from a local computer or from a remote web server. The web server may restrict access only to a private network, e.g. a corporate intranet, or it may publish pages on the World Wide Web. Web pages are requested and served from web servers using Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP).

Web pages may consist of files of static text stored within the web server's file system (static web pages), or the web server may construct the (X)HTML for each web page when it is requested by a browser (dynamic web pages). Client-side scripting can make web pages more responsive to user input once in the client browser.

WHAT IS A HOMEPAGE

"The homepage (often written as home page) is the URL or local file that automatically loads when a web browser starts or when the browser's "home" button is pressed. You can turn this feature off and on, as well as specify a URL for the page to be loaded.

The term is also used to refer to the front page, webserver directory index, or main web page of a website of a group, company, organization, or individual. In some countries, such as Germany, Japan, and South Korea, and formerly in the US, the term "homepage" commonly refers to a complete website (of a company or other organization) rather than to a single web page. By the late 1990s this usage had died out in the US, replaced by the more comprehensive term "web site".

In the same category of homepage are now websites that attempt to be a start page (more accurately a personal web portal). A start page is a website or page meant to organize links or information for the user when a web browser starts. Start pages generally consist of information like news, weather, games, and other web widgets and web gadgets. Start pages also aggregate information like RSS feeds or collect and manage web page links. Examples of Start pages include iGoogle, NetVibes, Sthrt, and Pageflakes.

My PC Says "Virtual Memory Too Low"

This happened last night as I was uploading photos from our trip to Paris, France. There was a pop-up in my computer that says "Virtual Memory Too Low". I don't know exactly what is this or what's going on. As this happened, I had a lot of windows from the different sites I visited. I also had a lot of programs running. Just now, I tried to search it in Google and find some answers from yahoo. For those who experience the same thing, these are the possible causes, suggestions and solution which I just found now in yahoo. here they are for your infos;

"Go to Start
Settings
Control Panel
System
Advanced
Performance settings
Advanced and under Virtual memory you set it to 2x or 3x your ram size. It really doesn't matter how high you set it but it does matter if it is too low.

What is means is that it will use some of your hard drive space as virtual ram when an application needs it usually when it's exhausting your real ram. Optimally would be to have more ram in your system since the hard drive is a lot slower than real ram

Also Defrag your computer once a month at least

Start
Programs
Accessories
System Tools
Defragmentation

"Usually running out of virtual memory means that you are running too many applications at the same time for your system or one of them is attempting to use too much memory.

Increasing virtual memory is one way of compensating for lack of RAM. However, it's optimum should be set at 1.5 times the amount of RAM on your computer. Virtual memory can be increased, but it comes with a risk if you increase it too much as it can eventually lead to hard drive damage.

To increase VM on Windows XP (should be in similar locations for other versions) look in Control Panel: System, Advanced, Performance Settings, Advanced, Virtual Memory.

You can see if your computer can handle more RAM at http://www.crucial.com/index.asp

It's important to note that everything takes RAM. Not only security products (such as active anti-spyware, anti-virus and firewall) eat up memory but your operating system, active browser windows, running applications (such as Word, Gaming, Messenger, Photoshop, etc) and malware all compete for system resources. The presence of Malware (viruses, spyware, etc) will particularly eat up your system resources so you may want to run your resident security products such as antispyware and antivirus applications to ensure that your system is clean.

What is XML ?

I already heard and read about this all the time in the internet. Honestly, I don't exactly know what it is. For my own information and for everybody, below is the meaning of XML. Thanks to internet for providing such infos like this.

"The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a general-purpose specification for creating custom markup languages. It is classified as an extensible language, because it allows the user to define the mark-up elements. XML's purpose is to aid information systems in sharing structured data, especially via the Internet, to encode documents, and to serialize data; in the last context, it compares with text-based serialization languages such as JSON, YAML and S-Expressions.

XML's set of tools helps developers in creating web pages but its usefulness goes well beyond that. XML, in combination with other standards, makes it possible to define the content of a document separately from its formatting, making it easy to reuse that content in other applications or for other presentation environments. Most importantly, XML provides a basic syntax that can be used to share information between different kinds of computers, different applications, and different organizations without needing to pass through many layers of conversion. I Can't Open a Site

I can't open a site again. I already signed-in in one of the sites that I frequently visit. As I left the site for some minutes, the following error below appears everytime I open it.

Could not connect: Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 0

I am just curious what this means. I tried to search in Wikipedia what is MySQL and found this meaning..This is only for general information if ever you find the same error and want to know what this word is all about. here it is..If you want to know more about it, please visit this permalink; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MySQL

MySQL is a relational database management system (RDBMS)[1] which has more than 11 million installations.[2] The program runs as a server providing multi-user access to a number of databases.

MySQL is owned and sponsored by a single for-profit firm, the Swedish company MySQL AB, now a subsidiary of Sun Microsystems,[3] which holds the copyright to most of the codebase. The project's source code is available under terms of the GNU General Public License, as well as under a variety of proprietary agreements.

"MySQL" is officially pronounced /maɪˌɛskjuːˈɛl/[4] (My S Q L), not "My sequel" /maɪˈsiːkwəl/. This adheres to the official ANSI pronunciation; SEQUEL was an earlier IBM database language, a predecessor to the SQL language. However, the company does not take issue with the pronunciation "My sequel" or other local variations.

USES

MySQL is popular for web applications and acts as the database component of the LAMP, BAMP, MAMP, SAMP, and WAMP platforms (Linux/BSD/Mac/(Open)Solaris/Windows-Apache-MySQL-PHP/Perl/Python), and for open-source bug tracking tools like Bugzilla. Its popularity for use with web applications is closely tied to the popularity of PHP, which is often combined with MySQL. Wikipedia runs on MediaWiki software, which is written in PHP and uses a MySQL database. Several high-traffic web sites use MySQL for its data storage and logging of user data, including Flickr, Facebook, Wikipedia, Google, Nokia and YouTube.

I tried to sign-in again but it says the same error..I give-up for now and will try later again.

What URL means

I was talking last time to my sisters and some friends to visit my sites if they want some updates of my life and escapades. I told them to just type the URL of my sites in their browser and they can easily find it. Honestly I also don't know what really URL stands for. I know that it is some sort of web address but its exact meaning, I really don't know. To make the story short. Here is the meaning of URL from Wikipedia. Visit this site for more infos about URL.

In computing, a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is a type of Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) that specifies where an identified resource is available and the mechanism for retrieving it. In popular usage and in many technical documents and verbal discussions it is often, imprecisely and confusingly, used as a synonym for uniform resource identifier. The confusion in usage stems from historically different interpretations of the semantics of the terms involved. In popular language a URL is also referred to as a Web address.

What is My IP Address

There are still a lot of internet or cyberspace words that are foreign to me. I always heard about them but I really don't know what they mean. One of them is IP address or known as the Internet Protocol.

According to Wikipedia, the dictionary in internet, IP means a network layer protocol in the Internet protocol suite and is encapsulated in a data link layer protocol (e.g., Ethernet). As a lower layer protocol, IP provides the service of communicable unique global addressing amongst computers.

See, I just knew now the real meaning of IP...Sounds good to me. In the process of knowing more about IP, I just came across whatismyipaddress.com. It is a very interesting website that gives you a lot of informations about what IP is.

How to beat spyware and viruses, 2008 edition

This is quite interesting to share about!! got it in yahoo tech news..bloggers were badly attacked by trojan virus last month, so I believed that these tips are very useful..done some of it last month..it really worked..

here it is!!

Wed Apr 2, 2008 11:46AM EDT

The last time I wrote a piece on how to remove spyware from your computer was in 2006. Time for an update, I think. Here's my perennial "How to Beat Spyware" howto, revised and updated for 2008 (and combined into a single file instead of two parts).

Here's what to do if you suspect an infection on your Windows PC. (Please note these steps apply to both Windows XP and Vista.)

1) Are you sure it's spyware or a virus? Windows pop-ups and alerts can often seem invasive enough to be viruses, especially with Vista. Try searching the web for the exact text you see on the screen to make sure you aren't dealing with an aggressive Windows message. (Many of these can be turned off, so try whatever instructions you find.) On the other hand, some viruses masquerade as Windows alerts, so tread lightly.

2) Boot in safe mode. If you have a virus, first step is to try booting in safe mode. You can get to safe mode (a simplified version of Windows that disables a lot of extra gunk, possibly including some spyware apps) by restarting your PC and tapping F8 during boot. Soon you'll get a menu of options. Select "Safe Mode" (it's at the top of the menu) and wait for the machine to fully boot. The system will look funny (with a black background and larger icons, probably), but don't worry about it. This is only temporary. (Also note that many spyware applications can disable safe mode, so if you find this doesn't work, just boot normally.)

3) Run your antivirus application. This is of course assuming you have an antivirus application. (Need one? Check here.) You're in safe mode now, so run a full scan of your PC at maximum security levels (include the option to scan within compressed files, for example). This will probably take an hour or more, so be patient. Fix any problems the virus scan turns up. Then reboot into safe mode again using the procedure in step 2.

4) Run one or two anti-spyware applications. I used to recommend running multiple anti-spyware apps, but virtually all antivirus apps now do a pretty good job at getting rid of spyware too, so you don't need an army of additional applications just for spyware. Also, I now recommend starting with AdAware (which is free) and moving on to Spyware Doctor (free as part of the Google Pack) if you feel you need additional help. (Please note that recent versions of Spyware Doctor and Norton Antivirus have some trouble with each other.) You can try other apps too, but the once-recommended SpyBot Search & Destroy is no longer very effective, sadly. (Neither is Microsoft's own Windows Defender.) Of course, fix anything and everything these apps find.

5) Reboot normally. (Not in safe mode.) Now take stock. Still got spyware? It's time to move along to my more advanced techniques for removing the nasties.

6) Run HijackThis. HijackThis is a free software tool that scans your computer to find malware that other apps might miss. Scroll down to "Official downloads" to download the tool. Next, simply open the ZIP file you downloaded, extract the application, and run the tool (you don't need to install it). Click the "Do a system scan and save a logfile" button. You'll receive a large text file as well as a dialog box which gives you a list of active software processes, which you can then choose to delete. Unfortunately, this list includes both helpful and unhelpful software, so don't just start deleting items. Continue in step 7 to figure out how to fix your spyware infection.

7) Post your log file online. Visit this page, which offers a list of forums staffed by volunteers who can help you interpret your HijackThis log. The SWI Forums are especially busy, but most of the forums on the list are equally apt. Go to SWI and visit the "Malware Removal" forum which has over 50,000 topics listed: Those are all people like you who are seeking help getting rid of spyware. Register for an account, read the FAQ, then visit that Malware Removal forum, and post a new topic. Paste the content of the text file you created in step 5 into this topic and (politely) ask for help. You will get a response from a volunteer helper, typically within 3 days. You'll be given specific advice on what entries to remove with the HijackThis tool, and you might be pointed to additional software to run to help remove common spyware infections. Follow all the instructions and keep working with the forum helpers until either you or they give up. (And no, don't send your log file to me or post it here. I am not nearly the spyware removal expert that these guys are.)

7a) Alternately: Paste your log file into an automated tool. Don't have three days? Try simply pasting your HijackThis log file into this form. It does a pretty good job at auto-analyzing what's wrong with your machine, with no waiting. As well, if that doesn't work, you can search for the items you find in the HijackThis log by name to see what they are and how to remove them, if they're spyware. This can be quite time consuming, though.

8) Try System Restore. If that doesn't work, you might try running Windows System Restore to roll back your OS to a time before the infection happened. This isn't foolproof: You might not have System Restore turned on, or the spyware might have shut System Restore off, as well. But it's worth a shot. With either XP or Vista, System Restore can be found under Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.

9) Give up and wipe your hard drive. At this point, you've exhausted all the options I know of. You might try again at steps 6/7 to make sure you've done everything you can to salvage the PC. Forum helpers will often work with you for weeks to help fight a spyware infection, but there are tens of thousands of possible variants out there, with new ones cropping up every day. It's just not possible to clean them all, every time. Sometimes the only thing you can do is call it quits, reformat your hard drive, and reinstall your OS. Again, make sure you have your backups ready and verified. Once you're up and running, reinstall your antivirus and anti-spyware applications, and stay vigilant against infection. Good luck.

Internet Compared to WWW

Other people might not know the difference between internet and world wide wed. Got here some info what really its difference..

The Internet, sometimes called the "Information Superhighway", is a worldwide, publicly accessible series of interconnected computer networks that transmit data by packet switching using the standard Internet Protocol (IP). It is a "network of networks" that consists of millions of smaller domestic, academic, business, and government networks, which together carry various information and services, such as electronic mail, online chat, file transfer, and the interlinked web pages and other resources of the World Wide Web (WWW).

TERMINOLOGY::

The Internet and the World Wide Web are not synonymous. The Internet is a collection of interconnected computer networks, linked by copper wires, fiber-optic cables, wireless connections, etc. In contrast, the Web is a collection of interconnected documents and other resources, linked by hyperlinks and URLs. The World Wide Web is one of the services accessible via the Internet, along with various others including e-mail, file sharing, online gaming and others described below.
