Fold-up car of the future unveiled for Europe

A tiny revolutionary fold-up car designed in Spain's Basque country as the answer to urban stress and pollution was unveiled Tuesday before hitting European cities in 2013.

The "Hiriko," the Basque word for "urban," is an electric two-seater with no doors whose motor is located in the wheels and which folds up like a child's collapsible buggy, or stroller, for easy parking.

Dreamt up by Boston's MIT-Media lab, the concept was developed by a consortium of seven small Basque firms under the name Hiriko Driving Mobility, with a prototype unveiled by European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso.

Oldtimer Cars in Neumarkt

Do you love seeing oldtimer cars? Yes, I do! It has been my second time to witness the so-called Oldtimer treffen in Neumarkt in Upper Palatinate part of Bavaria in Germany. There you can see different kinds of oldtimer cars of various brands, styles, colors and designs. I admire the owners of these cars who take care of their little wealth. I hope to see you again this June 2012.

Time to Change Summer to Winter Tires

Winter is almost coming! The temperature is starting to get sub-zero especially during the night. This is the time that we need to change the tires of our cars from summer to winter tires. I am thankful that hubby already did it all. Some American friends are using the four-seasons tire but we usually don't. Most Germans don't use these kind of tires. As what I have heard winter tires are better than four-season ones. I guess it is also depends on what kind of winter you have. We usually get heavy snow in the Bavarian part of Germany. Besides, it also depends on how you are driving during winter time. Most people who have accidents are driving too fast and never calculate that when it is cold during the night especially when it rains , the road get frozen early in the morning.

Don't forget to change your tires now. Better early than sorry. Have a safe driving too!

End of Car Search

Hubby has been searching for a new car since last December 2010. The registration of his 18 years old VW or Volkswagen car will be ending next month. It is too old and when he will let it fix, it cost a lot of money. It cannot also pass the inspection because there are a lot of parts in the car that needs to be repaired. In fact, he is giving away this old Volkswagen. In Germany, when somebody will throw his old car, there are junk shops who will take it but you have to pay for the service. It probably cost more or less 200.00 Euros. He is trying to find junk shops nearby who will take the car for free.

Since last month, hubby has been searching for cars in the internet. We also did some car window shopping the past weeks. Good to know he found one in the internet last week. We drove near Munich last Thursday and as the Auto dealer agreed with our bargain, we picked it up immediately last Saturday. It cost some fortune but at least hubby is very happy. Hubby is very contented with his new toy. I told him that he just need to reward himself sometimes especially for all the hard work he had done in his life. Congrats to dear hubby for his new toy.

Nice Old Car

It is seldom to see nice old cars running on the street nowadays. I guess I am lucky to see and witness oldtimer cars that were built for almost a century now. This happened during our visit to the Oldtimer Treffen in Ndeumarkt, Bavaria, Germany last June 2010. Sad to say, I don't have any idea what is the name of the car that I have any. Your info is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

German Old Timer Car

It is nice to see old timer cars like the one I had in the picture below. This was taken during our visit to the Spring Festival in Nuremberg in Bavaria, Germany last month. We are very lucky because it was a perfect timing seeing the Old timer parade during that day. I just don't know the exact brand name of this German car. Any idea out there?

World's Cheapest Car Named Tata Nano from India

I was not surprised as I read about the news about the World's cheapest car that pop-up in yahoo news as I opened my PC today. I already read about this car sometimes in 2007. This car named Tata Nano is manufactured in India. It looks like the model of Smart For Two and probably the same size of this car. It cost around $2,500. So far this is the world's cheapest car I ever heard. I guess there will be a great competition for car manufacturers around the world especially with regards to car prices..we will see!

Anybody Looking For Car Parts?

How I wish I could drive a Ferrari next time. It is not really my dream because I am contented with my car right now. But when I am given the chance to own and drive this car why not? I know from my husband that Ferrari parts are very expensive. I guess there are companies that sells cheap Ferrari parts out there. You just need to be resourceful in trying to find the cheapest one. You can even browse it in the internet and try to look for a site that offers the cheapest possible price. You can also try to visit ricambiamerica.com and compare prices. Annoying Beep of My Smart For Four Car Finally Resolved

The Annoying of my Smart For Four Car was finally resolved! I was happy last Friday even I was not feeling well. My husband who loves to always fix cars finally found the reason why my car keeps on beeping everytime I turn on the ignition key. If you read before my previous post about this in this blog, you might find more information.

Last Friday my husband went home earlier. Since he can't talk to me because I don't want to hear some noise or even a voice due to migraine, he found sometime fixing my car. There are always some fuses in the car for the lights or anything that serve its purpose. He tried to find and get it one by one. According to his story to me, everytime he get one fuse out, and put it back, he tries to turn on the key. He did it until he reached the fifth fuse. As he put it back and turn the ignition key on, the annoying beep was gone. He checked it again yesterday and my car never had that annoying beep again. As we had a lunch date today and drove my car, I never heard it beep again. Congrats mein Schatz!! Du bist sehr gut!! (you are very good!)..I can continue to drive my Smart For Four a again without fear. Thats was really an annoying beep before. Thanks to my dearest husband who got talent in fixing cars!! If you are driving the same car and have the same problem, try what my husband did!! I am happy again to drive my car!

Have You Seen a Burning Car?

Happy Monday! I hope you have a good start of the week especially to those who are going to work or presently working at this moment.

I am sharing today about burning car. Have you seen one in actual or maybe just in TV? I have seen a burning car three times already. The first one was in July 2003, some days after I arrived in Germany. It was right at the side of our house. The second one was in August 2007 as we drove on the highway going to house of my friend to attend her birthday. The third one was last Saturday as we were on our way to Burglengenfeld to pick-up some stuffs needed for the house. I guess I mentioned some details about this last Saturday in one of my blogs. I pity to the Lady who owned the car because I saw some tears falling on her face. The best thing was that, she did went out from the car as it start burning...in short she was safe and no harm happened to her. ..Thanks God! Three fire trucks were there and a lot of firefighter too. They kept on spraying water but the fire won't stop. At the end, they sprayed foam on it and the fire turn-off immediately. The street was also temporarily closed and we were stocked-up there for almost one hour.

That was an unlucky day for the car owner but I believed her safety is the most important thing. Enjoy the rest of your Monday guys! have a great one!

Update About Smart For Four Car's Annoying Beep

How was your start of the month? I hope you had a good one! I was very busy today...I chatted with my sister back home and it was great talking to them once in a while..I did some laundry too..thanks to the washing machine for doing it or else I will be washing until now..I also did some cooking around 6 pm. I was done in the kitchen around 9:30 pm already including cleaning the dishes. I cooked Filipino dishes named Dinuguan and caldereta..look and taste yummy!!

Just an update about my beeping car.. We had it checked yesterday to my husband's brother-in-law and found no defect. I can't really explain how it is..We have to bring it to another Car repair shop who had a special machine to roll-back the kilometer stand. If we are not mistaken that is the reason why it keeps on beeping. I hope to fully explain it next time once it is fixed..it's getting late again!! Good night everyone!! have a great week ahead!!

My Smart For Four Car Have Annoying Beeps!

Good evening to all! I am feeling a bit sleepy already. I guess it is because of the weather that makes you tired and sleepy..I did not do much things today. I visited a friend during lunch time and in the afternoon, I went grocery shopping with my husband. and my car still keeps on beeping! I don't exactly know what is wrong. This starts last Tuesday as I drove some friends to Neumarkt to have an important paper to,pick-up. The beep started after I drove them home and I was already driving going home. Usually these beeps only sounds when I don't wear my seat belt when driving. It is giving you a warning to wear your seat belt. Of course I always wear my seat belt when I drive. I must do that because if a police will see you not wearing your seat belt you will pay some fine and might get some points. It just scares me as I drove today the car and it still continue to beep.

I immediately informed my husband about this but since he is already tired after work, he don't have the time to check it. My hubby also checked the car's manual last Wednesday. He read some infos about the causes if these beeps are making sounds. One cause might be some lights are bad, or battery is almost empty, it is icy on the road, break pads are bad, etc....My husband also asked some co-workers who know something about cars and they said that it is the acoustic warning sound that beeps. The best thing we can do is let it check by a car maintenance and repair shop. A friend also mentioned that it did happened to their car last time wherein the bad one was, one light was not functioning. My husband will bring my car tomorrow to his brother- in-law who have a car maintenance and repair shop for check-up.

What is a 710?

A few days ago I was having some work done at my local garage.
A lady came in and asked for a seven-hundred-ten.

We all looked at each other and another customer asked,
"What is a seven-hundred-ten?"

She replied, "You know, the little piece in the middle of the
engine, I have lost it and need a new one."

She replied that she did not know exactly what it was, but this
piece had always been there. The mechanic gave her a piece of
paper and a pen and asked her to draw what the piece looked like.

She drew a circle and in the middle of it wrote 710. He then
took her over to another car which had its hood up and asked
"is there a 710 on this car?" She pointed and said,
"Of course, it's right there."
